Kitchen Plumbing
Sinks, faucets, dishwashers, disposals and kitchen drains: repaired, upgraded or installed.
Heating, Hot Water & Fixtures
Jammed, leaking or noisy disposals are repaired or replaced, and new units are installed with secure mounting and the right drain connections.

Service overview
A garbage disposal is convenient until it jams, hums without turning, leaks under the sink or starts pushing water into the other bowl. Some problems are simple to fix; others mean the unit has reached the end of its life.
We diagnose the disposal and the drain it empties into (many “disposal problems” are really drain problems), then repair, replace or install the unit with secure mounting and leak-free connections.
Common problems
Hard objects, fibrous food or debris can jam the grinding plate.
Usually a jam or a seized motor. Running it longer can burn out the motor.
Leaks can come from the sink flange, the drain connections or the unit itself.
Ground food can build up in the drain line beyond the disposal.
A tripped reset button, a switch or an electrical problem can stop the unit.
Worn components or loose mounting can make a disposal grind or rattle.

Our process
Step 1:

Step 2:
Jams, loose connections and minor leaks can often be repaired.
Step 3:
When the unit has failed, we install a new disposal with secure mounting and proper drain connections.
Step 4:
We run water and the disposal to check for leaks and proper drainage.

Avoid grease and oils, fibrous foods such as celery and corn husks, bones, fruit pits, large amounts of coffee grounds, eggshells and anything that isn’t food.
Switch it off and don’t keep running it, as that can burn out the motor. Never put your hand inside the disposal. It is most likely jammed and needs to be cleared safely.
Often, yes. But if you’re in a co-op or condo, check the building’s rules first, and make sure the kitchen drain is in good condition. A disposal also needs a suitable electrical connection.
It varies with the quality of the unit and how it’s used, but many disposals last around a decade.
